EUGENE, Ore. – After a burglar got away with a family’s memorabilia of a dead military veteran in Eugene, some of the items have been found.
The Street Crimes Unit received an anonymous tip and was able to recover some items of clothing -- three of the military tops from the homeless camp at Empire Park and Highway 99. Two pairs of military pants were also found.
The burglary took place between June 30 and July 4 in a garage unit area of an apartment in the 4100 block of Aerial Way. On July 4, the victim learned a suspect had tampered with the lock.
Police asked the public to reach out if they saw anyone attempting to show, display or sell what appears to be the following items:
"Two plastic military style cases, several military uniforms (including woodland and desert camouflage), combat boots, gas mask, hats and a flak jacket. The cases also contained military awards, letter from deployment, plaques, flags, and framed photographs, including photograph of victim’s father with former President George W. Bush."
The investigation is ongoing.
