South Umpqua Complex Fire gaining ground

The level two evacuation notice is still in place.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- The South Umpqua Complex Fire burning in Douglas and Jackson counties is gaining ground.

Crews said embers blew out of the fires, starting spot fires.

The complex fire is now more than 14,000 acres and still only 16 percent contained.

Residents near Flats Ranch and Tison Road in Douglas County are still under a level two evacuation notice, as well as some in the Elk Creek area in Jackson County.

A community meeting was planned for July 31 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tiller Rural Fire Protection District station.
