SPRINGFIELD, Ore.-- The Springfield City Council will appoint a new interim mayor at a meeting on Monday.

The council will discuss three applicants who are all current councilors.

The candidates who applied are Joe Pishioneri, Sheri Moore, and Leonard Stoehr. Sean VanGodron also applied, but he wants the council to consider him during the second appointment process in January 2021.

Councilor Sean VanGordon also sent in application but he doesn't want to be considered until 2021 for the two-year term.

Whoever is appointed needs four out of six votes to be the interim mayor.

The appointed mayor will finish Christine Lundbeg's old term that ends on Jan. 1. After that term, the council will appoint another interim mayor to finish Lundberg's new term that is two years long.
