SPRINGFIELD, Ore.-- A car fire in Springfield Sunday morning left the driver with minor injuries.

According to the Eugene Springfield Fire Department, the fire came from the inside of the car in the parking lot of the Walgreens on Centennial and Mohawk Boulevards at around 11 a.m.

"I think there was something inside the vehicle that probably was on fire, that they didn't realize was hot, and then they went to grab it," said battalion chief Scott Bishop. "I'm not sure what exactly that item was but I believe that's what happened."

Officials said that nearby witnesses came to the car with fire extinguishers. Fire crews arrived shortly after to put out the fire entirely.
