EUGENE, Ore. -- The Springfield Chamber of Commerce has planned multiple events this week aimed at getting students interested in trade jobs.

On Monday, March 9, the Springfield Chamber of Commerce is hosting a session for parents to explore opportunities for their students. Parents are invited to meet with potential employers from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lane Community College in the Center for Meeting and Learning in Building 19.

Then on Tuesday, high school students and LCC students are invited to meet with those employers, get help with resumes and participate in mock interviews. Check-in for Tuesday's event begins at 8 a.m. at Lane Community College in the Center for Meeting and Learning in Building 19.

The events are free for those interested and no registration is necessary.

Trade jobs include everything from manufacturing to welding to drafting and diesel technology. The programs are all offered through Lane Community College. In those fields, pay starts at over $20 an hour and climbs from there.

As part of our Skilled to Work initiative, we partner with employers in our area to address the lack of workers for skilled jobs.
