SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- The Springfield City Council is looking into expanding bike share options in the city.
The council will be discussing the expansion at the 5:30 p.m. meeting Monday at the council's work session.
The program would resemble, if not be, an extension of the PeaceHealth Rides program. Blue PeaceHealth bikes are stationed at RiverBend Hospital, University of Oregon's campus, and downtown Eugene.

Emma Newman, senior transoprtation manager for the city, said that the push was brought forward by the Springfield Bicycle and Pedestrian committee. The group is tasked with advising city staff and councilors on issues of walking and biking in the city.
"Currently there's some uncertqainty about potential to expand bike share so this is really an initial conversation for the city council to engage with the topic of potential further expansion," Newman said.
The soonest we would see these new additions would be spring 2021.
