SPRINGFIELD, Ore.-- A Springfield home was a total loss after a fire ripped through it early Saturday morning, hospitalizing one.
According to Eugene-Springfield Fire, first responders arrived at the one-story structure on the 4000 block of E Street at around 4 a.m.

Officials said the back and right side of the home were engulfed in flames, eventually spreading to the attic of the home.
The home was empty. However, a person who was living in the backyard was transported to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation.
According to officials, the fire did between $250,000 and $275,000 of damage.
Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
