SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Months after former Springfield City Manager Gino Grimaldi retired, the search continues for his replacement. City leaders are scheduled to meet Thursday at an executive session to discuss the city manager recruitment process.
Grimaldi retired in June, and three finalists were named to replace him earlier this year. However, after the candidates met with the public, the City of Springfield decided to continue searching for new candidates.
Ultimately, Mayor Christine Lundberg and the city council will make their final decision on who will be the next city manager.
In the meantime, City Attorney Mary Bridget Smith has taken on the duties of city manager.
No new finalists have been announced or scheduled for visits at this time.
The executive session starts a 5 p.m. Thursday at Springfield City Hall.
The recuitment process for the new city manager is the only item on the agenda.
