SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- A Springfield man was arrested after a nearly-fatal wrong-way driving incident.

Jesse David Jaffe, 24, is facing charges of DUII, Reckless Endangering x5, Reckless Driving and Hit and Run.

This incident took place Saturday morning at 1:52 a.m. when an officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 126 Eastbound near Interstate 5. That’s when a one-ton Dodge truck went by the wrong way, reaching 100mph.

The officer activated his lights, and the truck struck a curb near 28th and Marcola Rd.

The driver refused to exit the truck but was talked into complying without force.

A search warrant is currently being written for a DUII investigation.

This all comes as dispatchers received many calls from motorists who were almost hit by Jaffe.

One caller said the Dodge drove straight at her, and his side mirror collided with her vehicle. Police said if the driver did not react as quickly as she did, the impact would have been fatal.
