Springfield police search for man wanted in shooting

Springfield police are searching for a man believed to be armed and dangerous.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Springfield police are searching for a man believed to be armed and dangerous who is wanted for shooting a man Thursday morning in a house on Forsythia Street.

Adam Kohl Summerlyn was last seen heading west on foot in the 4200 block of Daisy Street at about 8:45 a.m. He is described as white, 33 years old, 6-foot tall, and weighing 140 pounds.

Police are searching the area with two police dogs. Anyone who sees this man is urged to call Springfield police at 541-726-3714.

The shooting happened at a house in the 4000 block of Forsythia Street at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday. Police responded after receiving a call from inside the house. When they arrived at the house, they found a man outside the house who had been shot int he abdomen. The injured man, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to Riverbend Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim has since been moved to the ICU.

Someone who was at the house told police that the man who fired the gun left on foot after the shooting.

Three schools were placed on a modified lock down as a result of the shooting. This means no one was allowed to enter or leave the school, but classes continued as usual.

The modified lock downs at Agnes Stewart Middle School, Mount Vernon Elementary School and Douglas Gardens Elementary School have been lifted.
