SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Springfield police are investigating multiple gunshots fired from a vehicle late Tuesday night.

The incident happened at 11:55 p.m. in the area of 7th Street and Hayden Bridge. Police observed multiple gunshots coming from a vehicle. Believing a drive-by shooting had just occurred, police attempted to stop a gray minivan from leaving the scene.

The vehicle failed to stop for officers and a pursuit continued through city streets. Officials say the pursuit came to an end at the intersection of 5th and T streets after two suspects got out of the vehicle and ran away.

All four involved suspects were quickly taken into custody. Police say one man threw a handgun over a fence while running from police, and the gun was recovered. A second handgun was found inside the vehicle along with cocaine and drug related materials, police said. Numerous spent casings were also recovered.

At this time, it doesn't appear any citizens were injured and no major property damage resulted from the gunshots.

Nico Antonio Couturier, 21, of Springfield was arrested and charged with attempt to elude by vehicle.  Jaisi Tavin Savath, 19, faces charges of unlawful use of a weapon, delivery of cocaine and possession of cocaine.

The Springfield Police Department is still investigating and anyone with additional information is asked to call police at 541-726-3714.
