Stabbing near Scio sends man to hospital

A suspect was found walking away from the scene, authorities say.

SCIO, Ore. – Linn County deputies responded to the Scio area on Wednesday after a caller reported seeing blood coming out of a door and a man walking away from the scene.

Sheriff Jim Yon said deputies arrived to the 3900 block of Highway 226 just before 10 a.m. and found Ryan Mooney, 45, in the area. He matched the description provided by witnesses, Yon said.

Santiam Hospital reported Kevin Vaughn, 37, was there seeking treatment and had a stab wound to his neck. His injuries were not life threatening.

Mooney was taken to the Linn County Jail for first-degree assault and unlawful possession of methamphetamine.
