EUGENE, Ore. -- A student was taken to the Serbu Justice Center after a school threat on social media overnight, police said.
Police said there is no threat to South Eugene High School, and the male student was playing a joke on a friend.
The post was originally on Yolo, an app that allows people to post anonymously, and was shared on Snapchat. It said not to go to school.
A parent contacted authorities to report the post, and police investigated. School resource officers contacted the student who shared the message. Police thanked the parent and student for reporting the incident.
The student behind the threat faces charges of disorderly conduct.
Police increased their presence at the school. They said parents should monitor their children’s use of social media.
