ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A 14-year-old Fremont Middle School student was arrested on Wednesday, accused of threatening another student with a gun at a bus stop and firing it, district officials said.

Police said two male students stole a vehicle on Tuesday. They received a report of the stolen vehicle around 7 p.m. and responded to the 900 block of SE Pine Street. The owner said a .357 revolver was inside the vehicle. That gun was used in the incident the next morning, police said.

On Wednesday, police received reports of the incident at the bus stop at about 9 a.m. Reports said at about 7:15 a.m. the 14-year-old brandished a gun where a group of middle school students were waiting for the bus. The students ran from the area, and the teen fired one round into the ground. No injuries or damage have been reported.

The gun was found near the bus stop where police said they believe the suspect hid it. At this time, authorities do not believe the gun was ever taken onto school property.

Police recovered the stolen vehicle in the 1700 block of SE Mill Street.

The other 14-year-old believed to be involved in the vehicle theft has also been arrested, officials said. Both teens were taken to the Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center.

Roseburg Public Schools is cooperating with the investigation. The district cannot release the names of the students that were involved.
