EUGENE, Ore. -- The Susan G. Komen organization is putting on a breast cancer forum next Tuesday in Eugene to talk about reducing the risk of cancer coming back and maximizing your quality of life.
KEZI 9 News spoke with Community Programs Manager Bridget Jamieson. Jamieson said this year the focus is on exercise and what to do following a cancer diagnosis.
The keynote speaker is exercise scientist Kerri Winters-Stone, Ph.D.
The event begins at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 9 at the Valley River Inn:
- 11:30 a.m.: Check in and visit exhibitor booths
- Noon: Lunch and presentation
- 1 p.m.: Q&A with speaker
- 1:15 p.m.: Closing remarks
Jamieson said it’s good for survivors to get together and hear from other people’s experiences. One in eight women are diagnosed in their lifetime in the United States.
Registration for the event closes at noon Tuesday, Oct. 2. The cost is $15, but the event is free for those who have survived or are fighting breast cancer.
