EUGENE, Ore. - The Eugene Police Department is looking for men and women to fill the position of Police Officer.

According to their website, they will be accepting applications until December 29. They will also be hosting a Career Night, 6 p.m. on November 16 at the Emergency Services Training Center.

Eugene Police Officer Michelle Jones tells KEZI 9 News the department has always had an issue with being short staffed. "Typically statistics show that there are usually more officers than what we have and we're always trying to push to stay with the norm of how many sworn officers per capita," said Jones.

Some of the requirements include a High school diploma or GED, being at least 21 years of age by the hire date, and no felony conviction.

If you are interested in becoming a police officer, you can find more information on the Eugene Police Department's website.
