SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- The Lane County Veterans Day Parade in Springfield has been canceled this year due to organizaers not having access to the Veterans Day Parade account.
The committee realized they were unable to put on the parade this year when they received calls from people who were having difficulty registering.
When they tried to contact the committee member who has sole access to the website and the funds, they were not able to get ahold of him.
Organizers said the future of the parade is unknown, but if it resumes, changes must be made.
"We may need to reorganize perhaps choose some different committee members and look for people who are truly patriot with levels of integrity that we agree with," said Dan Rupe, the parade committee chairman.
Organizers also said there has been a lack of interest.
"I don’t know if there will be another [parade] the following year because a lot of us are getting burnt out and there hasn’t been a great deal of interest in the last few years," said Nick Urhausen, the parade photographer. "We don’t know about the future."
Organizers said although the parade is not happening this year, they encourage everyone to go to the Veterans Memorial Hall to honor veterans instead.
