Three arrested in Eugene vehicle break-in

A woman called the Eugene Police Department to report that two men were trying to steal her vehicle and a third man was waiting nearby in a truck.

EUGENE, Ore. – Three men were arrested early Monday morning after police received a call about a vehicle break-in in the 1100 block of Jacobs Drive in Eugene.

The owner of a Honda Civic called Eugene police at 1:39 a.m. to report that two men were in the process of stealing her vehicle and a third man was waiting nearby in a truck.

Upon arrival, police found that two of the men were in the Honda and attempting to hot-wire and jump-pack charge it.

Following an investigation police arrested Steven Ray Friend, 30, of Springfield, Shawn Vincent Kanzulak-Wills, 24, and Jesse Ward Anderson, 43, of Springfield.

Friend was arrested for unlawful use of a vehicle, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a restricted weapon.

Kanzulak-Wills was charged with unlawful use vehicle, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle.

Anderson was charged with possession of a burglary tool or theft device, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, and felon in possession of a restricted weapon (brass knuckles).
