SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- The Thurston area of Springfield is no longer under a Level 1 Be Ready evacuation notice.

Lane County officials also said residents along Deerhorn Road have been downgraded from Level 3 to Level 2. Deerhorn Road remains closed to all non-resident traffic.

Residents along Highway 126 to just west of Leaburg Dam are also now down to Level 2. The sole exception is Mountain View Lane beyond the intersection with Lure Lane.

Those who are heading back to their homes in these downgraded areas should avoid barricaded locations. Fire-damaged structures can be extremely hazardous. Residents are encouraged to have professionals assess and deal with damaged areas. Serious hazards that remain include falling debris, toxic substance exposure and ash and other irritants.

Fire danger remains, and residents that return to make additional preparations for their homes and animals must be ready to leave at a moment's notice. Emergency responders may not be able to provide additional notice if danger increases.
