SPRINGFIELD, Ore.–A teacher and coach at Thurston High School is in jail, accused of sexual abuse.
Lisa DeFluri faces three charges of second-degree sex abuse. She was head coach of the Colts girls basketball team last season, but due to COVID-19 no coaches have been assigned this year.
Principal Chris Reiersgaard initially told families that DeFluri was on leave and that a long-term substitute had been brought in. Springfield Police later informed the district that DeFluri had been arrested following their investigation.
No more information was provided, but Reiersgaard said if you have concerns or information, you should contact police at 541-726-3714.
Back in 2015, DeFluri and her husband Steve Twomey, were in the national spotlight when they tied the knot at the Rosebowl. Their story was featured on CNN.
DeFluri has taught mathematics and the school website lists her as an English teacher.
