Caught on camera: Tip jar stolen at Burrito Boy

Video surveillance footage shows a woman walking into the restaurant and taking the jar.

EUGENE, Ore. -- The Burrito Boy off of River Road had their tip jar stolen from them on Wednesday while one of their workers was at the drive thru helping a customer.

Video surveillance footage shows a woman walking into the restaurant at about 7:45 p.m. In the video you can see her waiting at the cash register for a bit before looking around the restaurant and taking the jar.

KEZI 9 News spoke with owner Guadalupe Malendrez, who said she's frustrated someone would do such thing.

"The ones that are being jeopardized are the hard-working employees that work at Burrito Boy,” Malendrez said. “It just makes me upset and disappointed that someone would do that and have no remorse."

She said there was only $8 in the jar, but it's not the amount of money that matters. Malendrez filed a police report on Friday and hopes they can track down the woman so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Eugene police are investigating the case. They’re asking people to contact them if they have any information on the theft.
