Transient injured by ax in Creswell hospitalized

CRESWELL, Ore. -- The man who was injured by an ax Friday morning in Creswell was a transient, investigators said.

Officials said the Lane County Sheriff’s Office got a call around 4 a.m. from a woman saying a man was trying to climb in her window.

In a second call, a man living at the house said he hit the intruder with an ax after they thought he was going to charge at them.

The man who was injured was taken to the hospital.

No charges have been filed at this time.
