Two children injured after school bus hit in Medford

A bus carrying a number of children with special needs was hit by a pickup truck on Friday morning.

MEDFORD, Ore. — Two children are being transferred to the hospital following a crash involving a school bus on Friday morning.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Columbus Avenue and Archer Drive. Medford Police officers on the scene said that the schoolbus was traveling on Columbus toward South Medford High School, when a pickup truck came from Archer onto Columbus. The two vehicles collided.

The bus was carrying eight students, many with special needs. Two of the children were being transferred to the hospital with apparent head injuries. None of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

Police are still investigating the crash and have not yet said which driver was at fault.

Another bus bound for South Medford High was hit by the driver of a utility truck several weeks ago, although there were no injuries reported in that crash.
