Two found dead in Philomath

The incident happened near the Forest Meadows mobile home park in the 1200 block of N. 19th Street.

PHILOMATH, Ore. -- Two adults were found dead of apparent gunshot wounds in a home in Philomath on Sunday. 

Police responded to a hang-up 911 call in the 1200 block of North 19th Street at about 10:40 a.m.

The officer arrived at the scene and didn't receive a response from the home's occupance. A Benton County Sheriff's deputy helped force entry into the home.


Police have identified the deceased as Carl and Merry Rath, age 55 and 53 respectively. 

On March 7th, 2021, at 10:41 a.m., the Philomath Police Department responded to a hang-up 911 call at 1284 N. 19th Street, #4, in Philomath, Oregon.

The official cause of death has yet to be determined. An autopsy is scheduled for later in the week.

Police assure the public that the community is safe and there are no outstanding suspects.
