EUGENE, Ore. -- Two motorcycle officers were taken to the hospital after a crash on Coburg Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard Friday.

The officers crashed just before 4 p.m. Officials said they were headed north on Coburg Road and were making a turn east onto Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. When they crossed over the bridge, they collided and ended up on the curb, crashing into the grass.

It's likely they were trying to avoid an obstacle in the roadway, officials said. The officers' injuries are not life threatening.

The two are not from the Eugene Police Department but are here from Yakima, Washington, taking part in the week-long national training conference.
