Brother and sister killed in crash east of Brownsville

They said he hit 19-year-old Caleb Simonis of Sweet Home who was killed in the crash.

BROWNSVILLE, Ore. -- Two teenagers were killed in a crash after an alleged drunk driver hit their car just east of Brownsville Saturday morning. 

Authorities said Austyn Hillsman, 21, of Junction City was under the influence driving eastbound on Highway 228 when he crossed into the westbound lane. They said he hit Caleb Simonis, 19, of Sweet Home, who was killed in the crash.

There were two passengers in Simonis' car. Shelby Simonis, 16, was transported by Life Flight to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Kylee Simonis, 15, was transported by ground ambulance with serious injuries.

Hillsman did not have serious injuries and was charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence of intoxicants, and two counts of criminally negligent homicide. He is lodged at the Linn County Jail.
