UO adds in-person events to commencement day

All COVID-19 safety protocols must be observed, university officials said.

EUGENE, Ore. – University of Oregon graduates will be able to celebrate commencement day in-person, according to an announcement Tuesday.

On June 12, the university will hold a grad parade followed by a livestreamed stage procession. Both will be hold outdoors and will be open to graduates only.

The parade will kick off at 12:30 p.m. Graduates will check in and line up on 13th Avenue in front of Matthew Knight Arena an hour before the event. University officials said the graduates will parade west on 13th Avenue, crossing Agate street and continuing through campus to the Memorial Quad.

Next, graduates will cross a stage as their name is read and have their picture taken.

If you want to participate in the in-person activities, you must opt in via the commencement participation form.

All COVID-19 safety protocols must be observed.

University officials added that the events could be canceled if public health restrictions change.
