EUGENE, Ore.-- The University of Oregon announced in an email to students the school will be reducing student fees for the spring term.
In the email, the school said there will be a 34% decrease in student fees, going from $500.25 to $328.25. The university said this move is to help students financially through the coronavirus pandemic.
UO senior Bernice Amaya said she is happy to receive some help but she said student workers are also going to feel a pinch.
"At face value awesome for me," Amaya said. "It's one less thing I don't have to pay for, considering a lot of my job at the university is also being cut out. But when I look from a student worker perspective who works at the rec, that just means they're out of a job and that's one more student worker who doesn't have a way to pay for their rent, food, tuition."
The university also said in the email that students who wish to move out of residence halls will receive a full refund.
