CORVALLIS, Ore. --  It was a boring Sunday at NW 16th Street and NW Jackson Avenue off the Oregon State University campus when witnesses say a situation escalated in a way they didn't expect.

OSU student Genesis Hansen, 21, was arrested after allegedly interfering with a peace officer and resisting arrest.

Officials said they'll release body cam video from the officers early next week, but KEZI 9 News was allowed to watch it inside their OSU office on Friday.

Both body cam video and cell phone video taken of the event show police stopping Hansen for allegedly riding her bike against traffic.

Officers repeatedly asked for her ID, but she refused, saying there was no reason to stop her in the first place. She also demanded that officers show her proof that an ID was required under the law.

At one point, Hansen told officers she did not respect authority.

Hansen said she was profiled and treated unfairly by police. Oregon State Police (OSP) denies racially profiling Hansen, who identifies as being of mixed race.

In a new statement issued late Friday afternoon, they said in part:

"As an agency that is committed to eliminating racial profiling and implicit bias in policing, allegations are being meticulously reviewed and we are compiling as much information as possible. For an agency that makes more than a quarter million enforcement contacts a year, profiling complaints are a statistical rarity and when made, we take them very seriously."

OSU released a statement saying they immediately talked to law enforcement about their concerns about what they saw in the video. And they're asking law enforcement to examine their policies and practices.

Hansen was booked into the Benton County Jail but released after getting a citation for interfering with a peace officer and resisting arrest.
