SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – A wanted woman was charged with multiple counts of mail theft on Tuesday.
Police say officers contacted Jazmyn Jasper on Christmas Day last year after receiving a report of a suspicious person tampering with mailboxes.
Officers then learned Jasper had outstanding warrants, and she was reportedly in possession of a large quantity of mail and packages.
Jasper was taken to jail on the warrants and was released later that day.
The mail was turned over to investigators. Police identified 78 addresses the mail had been taken from. All of the victims from the Christmas Day mail thefts are Springfield residents, police say
On Tuesday, Jasper was found and charged with 10 counts of mail theft.
Police said they found an additional large quantity of mail on Tuesday, and detectives will continue to investigate. It’s believed the mail belongs to residents throughout the county.
