ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Evergreen Family Medicine is hosting their Warm up to Wellness event Saturday, where they will be offering health exams and sports physicals completely free of charge.
The event is in partnership with the Oregon Department of Human Services and the Boys and Girls Club of the Umpqua Valley. The event is open to children ages 0 to 18.
Organizers said the intention is to help families who may not be able to afford physical exams or are unable to make doctors appointments during the week.
They said they are asking parents to bring insurance information if they have it. For children under the age of 15, they are requiring parent/guardian consent for medical services.
“It’s a way for us to kind of move and engage and meet people where they're at, instead of making them come to us,” said Matt Stark, who will act as a family practice provider at the event.
Immunizations will also be provided free of charge if needed. Organizers said the hope is to get students vaccinated before exclusion day on Feb. 20.
Organizers said there will be carnival games, activities, snacks and prizes. Wildlife Safari will be bringing exotic animals to see.
The event will be held at the Boys and Girls Club of the Umpqua Valley on Northeast Cedar Street in Roseburg from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
