SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The Willamalane Park and Recreation District is seeking input on child care needs this fall with a survey.

The input will be used to help shape programs, including locations, times, group size and registration methods.

“We want to ensure that our childcare programs continue to meet the needs of our community, especially as those needs may rapidly shift this season,” said Caitlin Esping, Willamalane Youth Programs Supervisor.

Community members who would like to weigh in can fill out the survey here.

“As our partners at Springfield Public Schools have had to adjust their schedule and move to online only, we’ve gotten creative with our spaces to increase our capacity while still adhering to all state safety regulations,” Esping said.

The district’s main school-age program is Springfield Squirrels. It’s full-time and supports students starting the year with distance learning. It runs from Sept. 21 through Dec. 18 with care from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. Click here to learn more.

Willamalane said safety is their priority but they can’t completely remove the risk of exposure. The district is following social distancing, sanitation and face covering guidelines.
