EUGENE, Ore. - Students at Willamette High School in Eugene got hands-on experience Wednesday working on compact electric vehicles.

Arcimoto, a local manufacturer of these types of vehicles, visited the school with a prototype vehicle.

Representatives also helped students build their own electric vehicles for a racing competition.

"It's pretty cool knowing that there's an actual market for exactly what I'm learning to do in school," said Jase Brooks, a senior at Willamette High School. "It's something that you can just take and go straight into the real world and start using."

Arcimoto said it will be ramping up construction and will need new employees to help with manufacturing and programming for their autonomous vehicles.
