11:20 A.M. UPDATE: The report that led to a lockdown at Willamette High School Wednesday morning involved a person who might have had a handgun on campus, Bethel School District spokesman Pat McGillivray said.
The suspicious person was possibly a student, according to the report.
The lockdown stretched from 9:56 to 10:48 a.m. as police searched the campus. Students remained in their classrooms during the investigation.
Police did not find any evidence of a threat.
Cascade Middle School, Malabon Elementary School and Fairfield Elementary School were placed on lockout as a precaution. The exterior doors of those schools were locked, and students were not allowed outside.
McGillivray said police plan to maintain a presence at the high school through the rest of the day.
11:06 A.M. UPDATE: After investigating the report of a suspicious person at Willamette High School, police will maintain a presence at the campus, but the lockdown has been lifted.
Police said they investigated the report, searching all spaces, analyzing video and interviewing the one person identified without finding any concerns.
11 A.M. UPDATE: The lockdown at Willamette High School has been lifted as of 10:48 a.m., school officials said.
The school's website says they wanted to keep students in their classrooms as they investigated. They "determined the threat is no longer present."
Students will return to their normally scheduled classes. Second period will be shortened, but lunch and afternoon classes will continue as scheduled.
10:45 A.M. UPDATE: Willamette High School received a report of a suspicious person on campus Wednesday morning, Eugene police said.
Police said they were called to 1801 Echo Hollow Road at 9:14 a.m. regarding the suspicious person, who could possibly be a student. Police have contacted several people who may fit the description, but they turned out to not be posing a threat.
Police remain on scene and are continuing to investigate the report.
Willamette High School remains in lockdown as they finalize their investigation. Once it is complete, the school will release students to breakfast, and they will return to the next class period, which will be shortened.
Cascade Middle School and Malabon Elementary School are on lockout as a precaution.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Police are surrounding Willamette High School in Eugene after a potential threat on or near campus was reported. The school is currently on lockdown.
On the school website, it said all students and staff are inside their classrooms.
School officials reminded parents not to call or come to the school. They said as they respond, it can be difficult dealing with additional calls. They said they'll update their website with the latest information for parents.
Students are remaining in their first period class until the situation is cleared.
