Wintry weather moves into Willamette Valley

Many parts of the Willamette Valley are seeing snow in higher elevations and a wintry mix on the valley floor.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Many parts of Willamette Valley are seeing snow in higher elevations and a wintry mix on the valley floor.

Periods of heavy rain will impact the valleys and coast on Tuesday, with gusty winds expected along the water. In the higher elevations, snow will fall through the evening and overnight hours.

Fast Forecast:

Tuesday: Rain starting in the afternoon. Breezy. Highs in the low 40s in the valleys, mid-40s along the coast.

Wednesday: Showers. Highs around 40 in the valleys, mid-40s along the coast.

Thursday: Scattered showers. Highs in the mid-40s in the valleys, around 50 along the coast.

Friday: Mostly cloudy. Highs in the low 40s in the valleys, around 50 along the coast.

Saturday: Rain. Highs in the low 40s in the valleys, around 50 along the coast.

Sunday: Rain. Highs in the low 40s in the valleys, around 50 along the coast.

Monday: Showers. Highs in the mid-40s in the valleys, and mid-50s along the coast.

Drivers should use caution as bridges and overpasses are expected to ice over. 

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Cascades, Cascade Foothills, Coast Range, and higher elevations of the Umpqua Basin until Wednesday morning. Expected snowfall totals are as follows: 3-8" in the Cascades, 2-8" in the Coast Range, 2-5" in the Cascade Foothills, and 1-4" in the Umpqua Basin above 1500 feet.

A High Wind Warning is in effect for the South Central Oregon Coast from noon to 6 PM today, for winds from the south at 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
