Mother arrested in fatal crash near Philomath that killed young daughter

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Benton County sheriff’s deputies arrested Laurie Ramsey, 41, of Philomath Tuesday in connection with the fatal single-vehicle crash that killed her 5-year-old daughter June 24.

Ramsey was booked into the Benton County Jail and released on bail. She was charged with first- and second-degree manslaughter, second- and third-degree assault, and driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Ramsey and her 8-year-old daughter sustained serious injuries in the crash, which took place on Mary’s River Estates Road near Philomath.

The investigation is ongoing.
