Woman dies at RiverBend Hospital, tests positive for coronavirus

The test was sent after her death.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – A 60-year-old Lane County woman has died at RiverBend Hospital, the second death related to coronavirus in Oregon.

The death happened on March 14. Officials said she was brought in experiencing cardiac arrest. A COVID-19 test was sent after her death to the Oregon State Public Health Lab. The test is positive.

Officials said the woman lived in the Eugene-Springfield area and did not live in an assisted living facility.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.

A communicable disease investigation will take place.
