Women's Care installs new mammogram machine in Eugene

You can now make an appointment to use the new machine.

EUGENE, Ore. -- A new tool in our area makes getting a mammogram a little easier.

Women's Care in Eugene just got a new mammogram exam machine. It's the first in Lane County with a curved paddle system for improved comfort.

Doctors say women are often scared of getting mammograms because of the pain, and this will significantly cut down on discomfort and pinching.

"I have been querying my patients as they've had their appointments, and they have all said it is much more comfortable," Dr. Tina Schnapper said. "It also is faster, so it's less than four seconds per image, which there's four images that are standardly obtained, and so it's only four seconds per image which is 12 seconds for your mammogram, which is great."

They installed the machine this week, so you can make an appointment to use it. They do 10 to 15 mammograms a day.
