Wrong way semi-truck crashes on I-5 near Cottage Grove

A man from Texas was driving a semi-truck northbound in the southbound lane when he crashed into another man from Portland, who was driving a Volvo.

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. -- A man from Texas was driving a semi-truck northbound in the southbound lane when he crashed into another man from Portland, who was driving a Volvo.

Tylor Stafford (53) of Shelbyville, Texas, was eluding police on I-5 when he crashed into Daryl Rickman (53) of Portland. 

After Stafford crashed into Rickman, near milepost 173, he then crashed into the concrete barrier and his truck burst into flames. Stafford attempted to run on foot however he was captured by an officer from the Cottage Grove Police Department.

Stafford was arrested for multiple charges including DUII, Reckless Driving, and Reckless Endangering. Stafford nor Rickman were injured.

The northbound lanes were closed for approximately 30 minutes and the southbound lanes for approximately 3 hours.
OSP was assisted by Cottage Grove Police Department, Lane County Sheriff's Office, South Lane Fire and Rescue, and ODOT.
