EUGENE, Ore. -- Former "Home Improvement" actor Zachery Bryan will be arraigned Friday in Lane County Court on eight charges.
According to the affidavit, Bryan allegedly assaulted the victim at an apartment complex in North Eugene. The victim told police she was in a relationship with Bryan for the past two years.
David Welshman lives nearby and said he was shocked when he learned about the alleged assault.
"I didn’t hear any actual violence going on," Welshman said. "I just noticed when the police came. I wasn’t the only neighbor. A few of us were outside looking like why is there police here?"
In an interview with police, the victim said she was sleeping in her bed when Bryan came over, demanding his phone charger. That's when he allegedly began to punch her. The victim said Bryan pulled her out of bed and began assaulting her on the stairs. He allegedly began choking her to the point she thought Bryan was going to kill her.
Bryan is facing eight charges. Those include two counts of menacing, two counts of assault in the fourth degree, coercion, felony strangulation, and interference with making a report.
