INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) -- Justin Herbert had an NFL debut to remember in the Los Angeles Chargers' 23-20 overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The sixth overall pick didn't find out he was playing until 10 seconds before the opening kickoff after starter Tyrod Taylor developed a chest injury.

Herbert stepped in and went 22 of 33 for 311 yards with one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown.

He made several huge plays and threw one costly interception. He vows to learn from the loss even if Taylor returns as the Chargers' starter next week.
