Corvallis, OR -- Oregon State football loses another key player before the start of the regular season. Head Coach Jonathan Smith confirmed earlier today that redshirt senior defensive lineman Jeromy Reichner suffered an ACL tear during practice last week.
"It's one of the worst parts of the game," Smith said. " He's a great kid and he has worked really hard, but it's definitely tough."
Last year, Reicher suffered an ankle injury that kept him out for most of the 2018 season, playing in only five total games. There is no timetable set for his return.
Although the Beavers have been plagued with the injury bug during off-season practices, the team did gain some help on special teams.
Kicker Jake Scarton completed his transfer from the University of Pittsburgh to Oregon State. Scarton will be looking to compete for the starting kicking postion after being the place holder for the Panthers last season.
"Jake is a nice addition," Smith said. " We've been trying to build some depth on the roster and we are definitley all about competition."
