CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Oregon State released the depth chart for its week one matchup at Purdue.
The Beavers named Colorado transfer Sam Noyer as starting quarterback.
"I think the overall feel throughout the body of work, through camp and headed into a game plan and those things we think he has the best chance to let us score some points," head coach Jonathan Smith says.
Noyer was an All-Pac-12 second team selection at Colorado passing for 1,280 yards and six touchdowns over 26 career games with the Buffaloes.
Redshirt sophomore Chance Nolan will be in the backup role to start this season.
This comes after returning starter Tristan Gebbia was sidelined with an injury near the end of fall camp.
Smith says Gebbia is working his way back and the team will take it on a week-by-week basis.
The Beavers kick off against Purdue at 4 p.m. on Saturday from West Lafayette.
