Corvallis, OR -- A day after playing in a 40 minute 7th inning, Oregon State and Washington State used 16 innings to find a winner in game two of their three game series.

The Cougars got out to an early 2-0 run in a game lacking the offensive output from game one. Then OSU used a three run 7th inning to get back in the game and take the lead for the first time. But Washington State responded right away in the next inning to tie the game up at three.

The next time either team had an opportunity to score was in the bottom of the 12th, when Elliot Willy was thrown out at the plate on a single from Jake Harvey. In the end it was Harvey who would line a hit down the third base line for a walk-off single in the bottom of the 16th securing the win in game two.

Both teams used a total of nine pitchers; the Cougars threw six pitchers, including Tyson Guerrero who threw 104 pitches, and A.J. Block who threw 97 pitches. While the Beavers threw three pitchers including starter Bryce Fehmel who threw 108 pitches.

"Heck this is the third extra inning game we've been in this week, and I thought our pitching today was outstanding," said interim head coach, Pat Bailey. "I mean i really thought it was really really good. i think we ended up with 23 strike outs and only one walk. That's pretty amazing for a staff to go that many innings. 16 innings strike out 23 and only walk one guy."

Oregon State will have a chance to sweep the Cougars Sunday, at 1:05 p.m. in Goss Stadium.
