Corvallis, OR. -- Promising days could be ahead for Jonathan Smith and the Oregon State Beavers football team. Heading into year two of the Smith era, continuity seems to be the key to a better season this upcoming year.

"A whole lot of things feels better, watching these guys develop in the weight room, having some continuity on our staff. 9-10 guys coming back for their second year," said Smith. "So reiterating some of the scheme we're running but knowing these players even better. The players themselves knowing the coaches in to year two, just very optimistic of the progress that we've made so far. And I know we still have work to do pushing in to this season."

OSU returns about 8 starters on what should be an explosive offense and a knack for getting into the end zone.

"I think we're extremely underrated and our offense has weapons all across the, across the board as a lot of people around here know,"said tight end, Noah Togiai.

All eyes will be on the six year quarterback, Jake Luton and the weapons he has around him including star running backs, Artavis Pierce and Jermar Jefferson, and the tandem of wideouts in Isaiah Hodgins and Trevon Bradford.

"You know to be a high scoring offense; You know to win a lot of games. I mean year to year my expectations don't change you know what I'm saying. I always expect us to go out and win," said Bradford.

And on the defensive side of the ball, the Beavs welcome their only new coach in secondary coach Blue Adams. But with the addition of some key transfers, the team is looking to take another step forward.

"Football is football, you know you can't; cover three is cover three, cover two is cover two," said safety Jalen Moore. "You know it's simple things like that. Only thing about it is execute, you know and that's something that we lacked a little bit last year. And that's something, that's all I can say is execute. Execute."

And with so much hope building for this year, Fall camp kicks off for Oregon State Thursday afternoon.
