Oregon State loses regular season finale to USC

The Beavers strand nine runners on base in the loss.

Corvallis, OR -- Oregon State's offense couldn't come up with a timely hit as the Beavers stranded nine runners on base in the loss to USC, 5-0. 

With the Beavers trailing 2-0 with runners on third and second in the 8th inning Zach Zalesky was called out on a dropped-third strike without given the opportunity to run to first. 

OSU head coach was ejected after contesting the call. 

Tyler Malone struck out on the ensuing at-bat to end the inning. 

The Beavers couldn't get much going against USC starter Kyle Hurt who pitched seven scoreless innings striking out nine. 

Grant Gambrell went 6.0 innings allowing two runs while striking out five in the loss. 

Jake Mulholland allowed three runs in relief with all of them coming in the ninth inning. 

With the loss the Beavers finish the regular season at 36-18-1 overall and 21-8 in the Pac-12.

Oregon State will not wait to see where they land in the NCAA College World Series.

The 16 regional host sites will be announced on at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The NCAA Selection Show will air on ESPNU at 9 a.m. on Monday.
