Eugene, Ore. -- Oregon State took the day off from media obligations while the Ducks brought out student-athletes and coaches from the offensive side of the ball out following Friday's practice. Both teams have their first scrimmages of fall camp on Saturday. Oregon State's starts in the morning while Oregon's begins in the early evening. Video of Ducks tight end Cam McCormick can be found above.
Speaking of McCormick, this has been an unbelievably long road to recovery and playing shape. The 23 year old broke his fibula in the season opener against Bowling Green in 2018, which also marked the last time he played live snaps in a college football game. Since then he's endured multiple ankle injuries and even underwent reconstructive surgery on that very single ankle last year. But after that journey back and the free year of eligibility from the 2020 CoVid-19 pandemic shortened season, McCormick is just ready to be back enjoying the moment. His first game back will be his first set of snaps for the first time in three years.
"I'm just head down," said McCormick. "I'm just focused on being back at 100 percent, doing what I can do. I think I might shed a tear myself. not going to lie, when I get back out there, catch my first pass or something. It'll be a surreal moment."
"I was kind of a fan of Cam," tight end Patrick Herbert joked. "Now being able to see my brother play with him, being able to be with him, learn from him is really cool."
