Eugene, OR. -- The Oregon men’s basketball team has an opportunity to regroup this week in Los Angeles after a disappointing loss on the road that resulted in its first season sweep at the hands of Oregon State in nearly a decade.

The Ducks are coming off a game where they had 18 total turnovers. Head coach Dana Altman spoke to the media Tuesday before the team’s weekend games against USC and UCLA, and said he needs to push the team harder and demand more from his players.

“We’ve made a lot of progress over the course of the season. But so have other teams,” said Altman. “Our team played hard against OSU but they did not play smart. We have to stop missing defensive assignments and letting up easy baskets. Period.”

The Ducks main focus in practice this week is improving the defense.

“On any given night, we have the scorers and the shooters to have a good offensive game, said Oregon guard Victor Bailey Jr. “But it’s really about the defensive end and locking in on that because that is really the only thing we can control.”

Oregon now plays four of its last six games on the road, starting with the USC Trojans on Thursday night at 6:00.
