le?u?whether they're e for the first time in a decade.. roseburg high school is offering an auto shop program.. to students. kezi 9 news anchor matt templeman joins us live in the studio. matt, students seem pretty excited for this new program. absolutely.. chynna. roseburg high school has been working to get this program back for their students.. for a couple years. now.. students have the ability to get hand?on experience.. and get their certifications. kezi is partnering with industry leaders in the "skilled to work" campaign as they look to fill vacancies left by an aging workforce. the three year program at roseburg high school.. aims to prepare students to get a job.. right after high school. after they've been in the program for three years.. students can get industry and factory certifications. but in those three years.. their instructor wants to help fill in the gaps of their education.. and show them what the industry is looking for. one student we talked to.. says he encourages anyone with access to a program like this in high school.. to give it a shot. aiden hedstrom/automotive student, roseburg high school, says, "i'd tell them to do it and to learn about it, just to put your hands into something new. even if you don't like it, it's something there and you have the opportunity before going and spending your money to see if you like it or not." there are students that won't be able to get certifications.. because they won't get three full years. however.. this class will prepare them to excel in other programs.. like the one at umpqua community college.. if they want to continue their coming up on kezi 9 news at six.. we hear from their instructor who has spent more than 20 years in the industry.. about how he hopes these classes.. will help his students stay local. live in
