local late a palestinian rights activist was on the oregon state campus.. to educate people about palestinian conflicts with israel.. and within their own country. kezi 9 news reporter tyler jones is live in the studio to show us what he had to say.. and what people who listened had to say about his chynna.. bassem eid is an outspoken critic of the palestinian authority. he has traveled the world.. speaking about his desire for dignity for his people.. and peace between international non-profit stand- with-us -- which focuses on education about israel -- brought eid to speak at oregon state university. eid wants to shed light on the internal conflicts within palestine.. and how the boycott, divestment, and sanctions -- or b-d- s -- against israel "so these people are not only just causing damage to our economy, but also causing damage to the relationship, to the co-existence, to the economic cooperation between the israelis and the palestinians." one corvallis resident that was at the memorial "this is something i've thought about for years, is that there is so much money, energy, lives are lost focusing on the conflict, when there could -- people could be working together and there would be economic gain both ways." the university of oregon student government passed a resolution in support of the b-d-s last spring.. and stand-with-us and eid believe there may be an initiative at oregon state in the future.. as well. they say that resolution led to anti-semetic vandalism at the hillel building on the u-o campus. that resolution was deemed eid says his ultimate goal is helping people see how movements like the b-s-d are further disrupting possible peaceful resolutions
